Looksmaxxing with AI: A Kind Face Rating and Tips You Can Actually Use
Looksmaxxing has a harsh side online. Our AI face rating sticks to what you can actually change — hair, grooming, skin, glasses and colors — and stays kind. Here's how it works.

Contents
Looksmaxxing — making the most of your looks — blew up on TikTok and YouTube, and a lot of it is brutal: bone-structure scores, jawline obsession, advice that ranges from useless to risky. The useful core is much simpler, and some people call it softmaxxing: a haircut that suits your face shape, tidy brows, a skincare routine, the right glasses and colors near your face.
The Face rating mode in AI Face Analysis on ImageGPT is built around that core. It works like a kind, honest image consultant: it rates the photo, names what's already working and gives four specific tips you can try this week.
What you get
- An overall score out of 10, with one decimal.
- Four sub-scores: Harmony, Symmetry, Expressiveness (eyes, brows, smile) and Grooming (hair, skin, brows, facial hair).
- Your face shape: oval, round, square, heart, oblong, diamond and so on.
- A two-sentence first impression and three strengths worth playing up.
- Four tips, each from a different area: hair, beard, brows, skin, glasses, colors or style.
- A note when the photo itself limits the analysis — lighting, angle, filters or makeup.
Real result cards

The man on the first card got a tidy textured crop with shorter sides, evenly trimmed stubble, daily moisturizer with sunscreen and a deeper shirt color. The woman on the second got a light trim to sharpen her bob, brushed-up brows, SPF and rich teal or burgundy near her face — and a note that uneven lighting slightly limited the assessment.
How to read the sub-scores
- Harmony — how your features work together. Proportions don't change, but hair, brows and facial hair can balance them.
- Symmetry — moves a lot with angle and light. If it's low, retake the photo straight on in even light before reading anything into it.
- Expressiveness — eyes, brows and smile. A relaxed smile and groomed brows lift it fastest.
- Grooming — hair, skin, brows and beard. It's the easiest to change in a week, and most tips target it.
What it won't do
- Comment on your weight or body.
- Mention ethnicity, race, nationality or skin color.
- Call anyone ugly or unattractive. Proportions and symmetry are described neutrally.
- Rate minors. The mode is for adults only: if the person looks under 18, there's no rating and the credits come back.
How seriously to take the number
It's the AI's subjective read of one photo, not a measure of your worth. Light, angle and expression move the score noticeably, and the card says so. Compare your own photos with each other, not yourself with other people. Two cards from two different selfies are a fast way to pick your best photo for a dating profile or LinkedIn.
What photo to use
- Just you, facing the camera, your whole face visible.
- Even daylight, no hard overhead light.
- No beauty filters — they hide exactly what the tips are about.
- Camera at eye level; arm's-length shots from below distort proportions.
Step by step
- Open AI Face Analysis in the Photo section.
- Under What to find out, choose Face rating.
- Upload a portrait and click Analyze my face.
- Read the card and tips. The full text result is saved in your history.
Turn the tips into a plan
Right under the form there are links to test the advice on your own photo before you spend money on it:
- Hair tip — try the cut and color with the AI haircut tool.
- Colors tip — run a color analysis to see your palette.
- Skin tip — preview clear, even skin with AI Photo Retouch.
- Glasses tip — try frames in the virtual try-on.
