Video Converter

Any video into MP4, WEBM, MOV, GIF, or just the audio as MP3.

I

Add a clip above and the converter detects the container and codecs and suggests targets. MP4 with H.264 is the safe choice almost every time: phones, TVs, browsers and every social network play it.

If the video already uses a suitable codec, it's repackaged without re-encoding: fast and lossless. Otherwise it's re-encoded to H.264, or VP9 for WEBM. You can also downscale to 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p.

Any video can become a GIF, or give up its audio as MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC.

FAQ

Which format should I pick?+

MP4 for everything: social media, phones, TVs. WEBM for websites. MOV for editing on a Mac. GIF for short looping clips.

My TV won't play a video. Will this help?+

Usually, yes. Convert it to MP4: inside it will be H.264 and AAC, which nearly every TV supports.

Is it free?+

Yes. Converting and compressing are free and need no sign-up. Without an account you can send files up to 100 MB and videos up to 10 minutes to the server; signed in, up to 500 MB and 30 minutes. In the browser, pictures up to 150 MB and videos up to 1 GB are handled locally.

Where do my files go?+

Whatever your browser can do happens on your device, and the file never leaves it. The rest runs on our server, and files are deleted about an hour after they're ready.
