JPG to PNG Converter

JPG to PNG for editing, printing and sites that only take PNG.

I

PNG makes sense when the image will be edited again: every JPG save degrades it a little, while PNG keeps it intact. Icons, mockups and some upload forms also require PNG.

Converting won't add quality: compression artifacts already in the JPG stay in the PNG. And the background won't become transparent by itself. For that, open Remove BG after converting: AI cuts out the subject and returns a PNG with transparency.

FAQ

Why is the PNG bigger than the JPG?+

PNG is lossless, so a photo takes several times more space. For storing photos, JPG or WEBP is more efficient.

How do I get a transparent background?+

The converter only changes the format. To remove the background, use Remove BG; it returns a PNG with transparency.

Is it free?+

Yes. Converting and compressing are free and need no sign-up. Without an account you can send files up to 100 MB and videos up to 10 minutes to the server; signed in, up to 500 MB and 30 minutes. In the browser, pictures up to 150 MB and videos up to 1 GB are handled locally.

Where do my files go?+

Files are processed right in your browser and never uploaded. If the browser can't handle a file (a rare codec or a very large file), it goes to our server instead and is deleted about an hour later.
