Compress

Compress Images Online

Make photos lighter for email, websites, applications and marketplaces.

I

A modern phone photo weighs several megabytes, while upload forms often cap files at 1 MB or even 200 KB. Add photos above and choose how to compress: by quality with a slider, or to a target size, where the converter finds the quality for you and downsizes the image if that's not enough.

JPG and WEBP are compressed right in your browser. PNG and GIF are compressed on our server by reducing the palette, so transparency survives. iPhone HEIC photos become JPGs.

If a file is already smaller than what you asked for, you get it back unchanged with a note. The compressor never makes a file bigger.

FAQ

How do I compress an image to under 1 MB?+

Choose “Target size” and 1 MB. The converter picks the quality and, if needed, reduces the resolution.

How do I get a photo under 100 KB?+

Choose “Target size” and 100 KB. At that size the photo almost always has to be downsized, and the converter does that for you.

How much quality do I lose?+

At 70–80% quality the difference is rarely visible on screen, while the file shrinks several times.

Is it free?+

Yes. Converting and compressing are free and need no sign-up. Without an account you can send files up to 100 MB and videos up to 10 minutes to the server; signed in, up to 500 MB and 30 minutes. In the browser, pictures up to 150 MB and videos up to 1 GB are handled locally.

Where do my files go?+

Whatever your browser can do happens on your device, and the file never leaves it. The rest runs on our server, and files are deleted about an hour after they're ready.
