Custom diamond painting kits are usually ordered ready-made. If you already have drills and a canvas, or you're putting a kit together yourself, you can make the chart for free — it builds in your browser in a couple of seconds.

Pick a size — 20 × 30, 30 × 40, 40 × 50 or 50 × 65 cm — and 16, 24, 32 or 48 colors. The chart is made for 2.5 mm square drills, so 30 × 40 cm works out to 120 × 160 drills. Colors come from the DMC palette, the numbering most drill sellers use. Stray single drills are cleaned up, and for portraits you can turn on dithering for smoother transitions.

The key shows each symbol with its DMC code and name, how many drills you need and how many to buy with a 10% spare. If a color is out of stock, click it and swap in a close DMC code.

The PDF is laid out on US Letter or A4: an overview with a preview and page map, the key, and the chart with symbols, a 10-cell grid, running numbers and overlap where pages meet. Print it in color or as symbols only.

Diamond painting FAQ

How do I make a diamond painting from my own photo?+

Upload a photo, choose a size and the number of colors, and click Create pattern. You'll get a preview and a key with DMC codes and drill counts. Download the PDF and print the chart.

What drill size is the chart for?+

Standard 2.5 mm square drills. A 30 × 40 cm canvas holds 120 × 160 of them.

How do I get drills in the right colors?+

Diamond painting drills are sold by DMC code. The key lists each code and name with the number of drills you need, including a 10% spare. If a color isn't available, click it in the key and pick a close code.

How many colors should I choose?+

16–24 for simple pictures and bright landscapes, 32 for most photos, 48 for portraits with smooth skin tones. More colors means more bags of drills.

Where do the color codes come from?+

The DMC palette comes from the open craft-color-codes table by MakeBead (CC BY 4.0). Colors on screen are approximate — check your seller's color chart.

How much does it cost?+

Nothing — the chart is built in your browser and you can download the PDF as often as you like. Signing up adds 6 credits for our paid tools.
